Metricool is the cheaper way in, at $20 a month per brand as of October 2026, with a free plan and stronger client reports. Pick it if you schedule, measure and answer a few comments by hand. BetterSocials is best for a business whose comments and DMs bring in buyers, at $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts, with keyword comment-to-DM and AI replies in your voice.

We read both price sheets before the feature lists

Metricool and BetterSocials charge on different units, so we started where a buyer starts: the pricing pages. Metricool charges per brand, and its pricing page lists Free, Starter, Advanced and Custom plans. BetterSocials sells three plans by account count, each with a 7-day free trial that needs a card.

The table below sets the two price sheets side by side, as of October 2026.

The short version is that Metricool wins on entry price and reports. BetterSocials wins when answering comments and DMs is the work that brings in customers.

The bill at four, six and twelve accounts

BetterSocials sells three plans, and the table below shows each at its account count, monthly and billed yearly.

PlanAccountsMonthlyBilled yearlyYear total
Creator4 social accounts$29 a month$24 a month$288 a year
Pro6 social accounts$49 a month$39 a month$468 a year
Team12 social accounts$99 a month$79 a month$948 a year

Metricool is cheaper at the entry level. One Metricool brand at $20 a month costs less than BetterSocials Creator at $29 a month for four accounts, a gap of under ten dollars a month, or a little over a hundred dollars over a year. On yearly billing, Creator drops to $24 a month for four accounts, and the gap to Metricool's $20 entry price shrinks to a few dollars.

The two bills grow on different things. Metricool's follows how many brands you manage. BetterSocials' follows how many social accounts you connect, and every plan has unlimited contacts and unlimited keyword automations, with nothing billed per contact.

AI credits meter the AI writing only: 1,000 a month on Creator, 2,000 on Pro and 4,000 shared on Team. When they run out, the AI pauses and never charges more on its own. What the extra few dollars a month buy is the DM side of the inbox, AI replies in your voice and keyword comment-to-DM.

What the extra money buys: keyword comment-to-DM

Metricool's inbox is where you answer comments yourself, from its free plan up. Comment-to-DM means a keyword in a public comment sends that person a private message carrying your link. That's the job the price gap pays for.

BetterSocials sends that DM on Instagram and Facebook when a comment contains your keyword. A keyword is one screen with five fields: the accounts it runs on, the word to watch for, the public reply, the DM and a switch to let the AI write them. There's no flow builder to draw.

On TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, the keyword posts a public reply with your link instead. YouTube has no DM API for any tool. TikTok doesn't let a comment fire a private DM outside a limited rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.

Other tools sell keyword DMs too. ManyChat Pro is $39 a month with 2,500 active contacts, then $0.05 per extra contact, billed monthly, as of October 2026. Our look at six Manychat alternatives in 2026, sorted by the job your funnel does covers that field, and BetterSocials puts the keyword DM in the same inbox as posting at a price set by account count.

Comment replies on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube

Metricool reads YouTube comments, including on its free plan, as of August 2026, and you reply from its inbox. Buffer reads YouTube comments as well. Later, Pallyy, Vista Social, Sprout Social and Hootsuite read TikTok comments.

BetterSocials puts Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube comments in one inbox next to Instagram, Facebook and TikTok DMs, and drafts each reply in your voice. The voice comes from a profile built on your past replies. It also follows AI rules you write in plain sentences, such as your prices, hours and booking link.

AI replies have three settings, set apart for comments and for DMs: Off, Draft for me and Reply in my voice. On Draft for me, nothing posts until you approve it. On Reply in my voice, everyday comments get an answer 1 to 5 minutes later, and a DM gets one about a minute after it arrives.

Questions wait in Needs reply for your approval unless you switch on Answer questions too, which needs at least one AI rule first. When your rules don't cover what someone asked, the AI doesn't guess. The comment or DM waits for you in Needs reply.

Platform limits apply to every tool. Instagram only lets a business reply to a DM within 24 hours of the person's last message. TikTok DMs are reply-only, for 48 hours after someone writes, and only for accounts outside the UK and Europe.

Per brand against per account: what a team pays

Metricool prices per brand, so the bill follows how many brands you manage. BetterSocials prices by accounts. Creator and Pro are one login each, and Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for twelve accounts and unlimited teammates invited by email.

Per-seat tools charge for each person. Hootsuite includes its inbox from Standard at $99 per user a month, and Sprout Social puts its inbox on Standard at $199 per seat a month, both billed annually, as of October 2026. Two people on Hootsuite Standard come to about two hundred dollars a month.

BetterSocials Team covers any number of teammates for the same $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, across twelve accounts. Our survey of what social media tools cost in 2026, from Hootsuite's $99 seat to flat plans has the wider field.

Where Metricool's plans give you more

Metricool is stronger on reporting, and that's the main reason to pay it instead. Its plans include automated reports you download as PDF and PPT, monthly automated sending and customizable templates. If you send a client a monthly report, Metricool does more of that work than BetterSocials does.

Metricool's paid plans include three campaign dashboards. The Advanced Analytics add-on makes them unlimited and opens Metricool Studio. The pricing page also lists a Data Studio connector, sharing by live URL and comparisons against competitors.

The free plan counts too. Metricool has one, with an inbox. BetterSocials has no free plan, only a 7-day free trial with a card and a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first paid charge.

The buyer Metricool's pricing suits

Metricool fits businesses and agencies that live on analytics and client reports. If you schedule posts, measure them and answer a handful of comments by hand, its $20 entry price per brand and its free plan make it the cheaper route. Agencies that send clients monthly reports get the most from its PDF and PPT exports and automated sending.

The buyer BetterSocials' pricing suits

BetterSocials fits businesses and creators whose comments and DMs bring in customers, such as med spas, salons, gyms, realtors, restaurants and small agencies. The extra few dollars a month over Metricool's entry price buy keyword DMs on Instagram and Facebook, DMs in the same inbox as comments, and AI replies in your voice. Start on Creator at $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts, and move to Pro at $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six.
